What I feel has happened however, is that technologies have been brought into ece without teachers having too much of an idea about how it fits with best practice, how it fits with their philosophy of teaching and learning, nor what the technologies are actually capable of contributing. I do believe there are too many 'mindless' games on technologies, which children are left to 'workout' on their own, teachers are not sure what games are or how they work, and therefor there is a lot of mindless use of technologies established in ece as a result.

Thanks again - I must find some time to write an updated post.Beverly Kayehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08429304628360932037noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8238763463826457310.post-30065471686983432312016-03-03T06:19:47.314-08:002016-03-03T06:19:47.314-08:00Here the kids can learn social skills, like how to...Here the kids can learn social skills, like how to play with other children in a calm, sharing and rewarding way.
Montessori education in india|Montessori teacher training program

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03401822977882768037noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8238763463826457310.post-59281298311347900832015-04-20T21:49:00.178-07:002015-04-20T21:49:00.178-07:00Hi Jennings - if you are interested in more inform...Hi Jennings - if you are interested in more information about Lisa Guernsey this link will take you to interesting articles that she has written on the subject... http://www.lisaguernsey.com/articles&volume=1&issue=zero-to-three-screensense

Beverly Kayehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08429304628360932037noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8238763463826457310.post-36099468907936723472015-03-10T09:59:33.515-07:002015-03-10T09:59:33.515-07:00Kia Ora

There is very little educational value to it and it can be very mindless. An educational game is still entertaining and fun, but it has am educational undertone. These kind of games should have the students activate their prior knowledge and experience in order to beat the game.

I think that if you are going to use games in the classroom, especially a Kindergarten classroom, then you need to do your research on every single game. Have a rationale ready for the parents who will give you a hard time about them (we all have at least one). I would just be ready with a reason for why you are playing the game in class.

Good Luck!Meghannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8238763463826457310.post-71714483276697628902012-06-01T23:25:23.646-07:002012-06-01T23:25:23.646-07:00Sounds fabulous Anne. What I am finding is that they are being used (as with desk top computers) by groups of children, thus stimulating discussion, social interaction, and shared learning experiences. Also, we have an autistic child who loves using an Ipad at home and it has proven to be a social tool for him as he shares his knowledge with other children and they enjoy working with him. This has led to enormous progress for him and is yet another facet to the wonderful new tool we have in our hands. I am seriously considering the purchase of more of these devices, partly as the Touch is not being used for MY planned purpose, music selection, because of the learning I am seeing happening. As usual, the learning I was expecting is not happening, but I am finding there is a fascinatingly different aspect to using tablets that I am looking forward to exploring further.
MargaretMargarethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13822805947379380181noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8238763463826457310.post-82974731163495192952012-02-14T14:16:56.802-08:002012-02-14T14:16:56.802-08:00@Steve - yes absolutely

Parents have already asked if we are going to get more - which was a response that interested me (positive). I have been using iPads and iPod Touches in school for some time now with great success.

As for deleting, settings - general - enable restrictions and make sure deleting apps is turned off.

Budget - well, there are so many great apps out there. Try looking at websites like freeappaday.com, freeappalert.com and freeappcalendar.com - they show apps that have been made free by the developer for a limited time. There are alot of irrelevant ones but occasionally a few great ones. Download any that are free that day that you think may be ok.
